Shop The "Clearance Center" at "Ross-Simons! 09/09/2005 - 17:17
Review:
I have been buying jewelery & home decor through "Ross-Simons" for the last eight years, and at first glance, I thought R.S. was another overpriced "Gump's" type knock off, but then I discovered their "Clearance Center", and I have since purchased some of the best items,(both jewelery, & housewares, and other misc. items), at the bests prices I've ever seen, it's all in the timing.
They buy and/or manufacture such a vast amount of everything they sell, so almost inevitably have many items that wind up in the "Clearance Center", unless the item sells out, which happens maybe a quarter of the time, possibly less, I'd guess some items are put in clearance just because their items' "out of season".
I often see the same item later,in a future catalog, at the full original price, when it becomes seasonable again, the next year.
Maybe they need space for their new seasons' inventory?
I grew working in a family owned third gemeration jewelery store, and am very familiar with prices, quality, and other aspects of buying & selling, and can honestly say they have the best deals I've ever seen, if bought at the right time.
If you join their online mailing list, you also get catalogs and coupons for special discounts as well, most applicable to even sale or clearance jewelery.
I fax my purchases, (rather than order with a credit card online), and have had nothing but excellent customer service, without question, even when I received an order missing an expensive piece of jewelery, they send it out, next day air, and didn't act as though I was trying to rip them off, or give me the fifth degree, like most other retailers would have.
I keep all of my old catalogs, they often have older items, no longer shown, available at big discounts as well.
You're paying for great customer service... 12/18/2008 - 15:53

I've shopped Ross-Simons for at least fifteen years. In the past two years, prices have skyrocketed, far out of proportion to the increase in the cost of gold. Value used to be good; now, not so much. A 20-30% discount coupon basically brings the price down to 'normal' retail. Customer service is always wonderful, though.
