| Review: | I signed up thinking this sounded like a great idea. Well I guess it would be if everyone did what they are supposed to do.
My problems with the system:
1. If someone actually WANTS the movies you have, then you can get rid of them and earn "Peerbux" to buy what others have. If no one requests your movies then you have to buy Peerbux at the tune of $5 a piece meaning a new release will cost you about $15.99....if you actually ever get it. I can get 3 used DVD's at the music store in the mall for $20 and they'll take them back if they don't work AND I get the box and the inserts.
2. You get an email (at least sometimes) when someone requests your movie, but half the time by the time you get that email someone has beaten you to it and your movie is no longer requested.
3. When you mark a movie as received, if someone else wants it, it immediately goes to your "to be mailed" list and you come to feel like you better send it back out the next day or you may never get the opportunity again.
4. Not everyone in the system is honest. I have been waiting forever for Collateral. First someone sent me a DVDR illegal copy, then someone claimed to send one, then updated the status to say they didn't, then updated again to say they did and this last update was 10 days ago and I still don't have it. Meanwhile, the one I sent to Peerflix because it was an illegal copy is still in my list of DVD's I own....but is "on hold".
5. You are "required" to send a movie out within 24 hours if you mark that you have sent it however somehow I had a movie sent to me 10 days ago that just today had the status updated that the movie was sent to me today. So people are "pretending" to send movies in order to earn Peerbux to recieve more movies but are not actually sending them.
6. Your priority means nothing. They give you the ability to prioritize the movies in the order you want them but without fail the movies from the bottom of my list have been sent and none from the top.
7. I’ve emailed tech support with problems a couple times and have never received a response or a resolution to my problems.
Unless you want to be constantly aggravated, I wouldn't bother. It's a nice theory but doesn't translate well into reality. |

| Review: | Peerflix is a DVD trading system. Traders earn peerbucks by selling their DVD's and spend them on available DVD's.
Pluses: with a little patience you can unload unwanted DVD's and pick up others that are currently of interest to you. The peerflix website is easy to use and Peerflix sends you envelopes for shipping your DVD's, but you pay the postage.
Mailing is convenient and you don't have to worry about late fees because you own what you trade for.
Negatives: Despite the fact that DVD's are advertised as available, they frequently are NOT available. I have been waiting for some titles for weeks. All in all I have about 20 titles on my wanted list that are supposedly available and I am still waiting patiently.
Also, I have not received all of the DVD's that were supposedly in the mail to me. Peerflix will allow you to make 3 claims per 100 DVD's sent to you--otherwise they have the right to suspend your account. I've not received DVD's at a rate of about 2 per 15.
This system depends on the honesty of those in the system. I guess I will just have to quit the system if I continue to get ripped off because I don't want my account suspended with unused peerbux when I have done nothing wrong. |
